Big Brother US first Houseguests out: Seasons 14-26
After looking at the first 13 contestants to be the first players out of the Big Brother house, let’s now take a look at who were the first to leave CBS’s reality TV competition game from Seasons 14-26.
Big Brother 14
On Big Brother 14, Dan Gheesling again made it to the Final 2 where he lost to Ian Terry in the 16-player season which lasted 75 days and saw four former Houseguests start in the show as Coaches—Dan, Britney, Mike Boogie, and Janelle Pierzina—and then eventually enter the game.
The first contestant out on BB14 was 42-year-old Calipatria, California server Jodi Rollins, who actually spent just 6 hours in the house when she was evicted on Day 1 when Coach Dan was forced to eliminate one of the players on his team after losing the opening night Head of Household (HoH) competition.
Big Brother 15
The first Houseguest evicted on Big Brother 15 was 25-year-old San Diego, California lifeguard David Girton, who was voted out on Day 13 by a 7-5 vote over Elissa Slater, the sister of Rachel Reilly.
Another 16-player season, BB15 saw Andy Herren beat GinaMarie Zimmerman in front of host Julie Chen on finale night on the 90th day of the season.
Big Brother 16
We witnessed a dominating season by winner Derrick Levasseur on Big Brother 16, who beat ally Cody Calafiore in the Final 2 in what then was the longest season to date (97 days) with 16 Houseguests again fighting for the $500,000 grand prize.
The first evictee that season was Joey Van Pelt, a 27-year-old make-up artist from Seattle, Washington who was voted out over Paola Shea on Day 14 by a unanimous 13-0 vote, the largest margin at that point in the show’s history.
Big Brother 17
A third man from Southern California was again the first evictee on Big Brother 17 when 23-year-old Jace Agolli from Venice Beach was voted out 12-1 on Day 15 as 17 players competed over the 98-day season on CBS.
Steve Moses won over Liz Nolan, making it four straight seasons a man won the show.
Big Brother 18
On Big Brother 18, Nicole Franzel broke the men’s winning streak, beating runner-up Paul Abrahamian in the 99-day season which had 16 Houseguests fighting for the half-million dollars and reality TV show prestige.
Team Freakazoids member Glenn Garcia was the first player evicted on BB18, with the 50-year-old dog groomer from Bronx, New York getting ousted in a competition with players from three other designated teams. Glenn left on Day 2, just a day longer than poor Jodi in Season 14.
Big Brother 19
Big Brother 19 was a freaky season, with Josh Martinez beating Paul Abrahamian in the Final 2 in a season that had 17 Houseguests and lasted 92 days. For a third straight season, a man was the first to leave when Woodridge, Illinois microbiologist Cameron Heard was voted out on premiere night and Day 1.
In the Safety Competition called "Tempted by the Fruit," Cameron, Christmas Abbott, and Jillian Parker were all up for eviction in the tension-filled opening night comp, and Cameron was sent home in an 8-3-2 vote. Megan Lowder would then quit on Day 5.
Big Brother 20
Tyler Crispen was the runner-up and America’s Favorite Houseguest on Big Brother 20, but Kaycee Clark ended up winning the show which had 16 Houseguests and lasted 99 days.
The men’s streak of seeing the first eviction went to four straight seasons after Steve Arienta was voted out by a narrow 7-6 vote on Day 13 over Sam Bledsoe. The first three evictees on BB20 were all men.
Big Brother 21
When David Alexander lost a challenge on Day 1 and was sent to Camp Comeback on Big Brother 21, the 29-year-old photographer from Atlanta had a chance to get back in the house and the game, but he was officially evicted and exited the house on Day 15.
So the men’s streak of being the first evicted increased to a record five seasons in a row. BB21 was ultimately won by watermelon addict Jackson Michie who beat out Holly Allen in the 99-day and 16-Houseguest season of the show.
Big Brother 22
On Big Brother 22: All-Stars, Cody Calafiore returned and won the season, defeating Enzo Palumbo in the Final 2. The men’s longest streak of being the first out came to an end when 42-year-old waitress Keesha Smith (Big Brother 10) was evicted on Day 9.
The first three evicted on BB22 were all women with Nicole Anthony (Day 16) and show legend Janelle Perzina (Day 23) followed on the 16-Houseguest and 85-day season.
Big Brother 23
Big Brother 23 saw another man the first to be evicted when Travis Long, a 22-year-old technology sales consultant from Honolulu, Hawaii was voted out on Day 9 by an 11-2 tally. As a matter of fact, the first three to leave the BB house were all men, and a player who was originally announced as Houseguest, Garrett Smyles, was replaced (Christian Birkenberger) before the show even went on air.
With the men having so many problems early on in the game, one would think the women would have had the upper leg on BB23, but it was The Cookout members Xavier Prather and Derek Frazier who made the Final 2 with Xavier winning the now $750,000 grand prize and becoming the third winner of the summer version to win by a unanimous vote.
Big Brother 24
The first Houseguest to leave on Big Brother 24 was a woman named Paloma Aguilar, and she quit the game on Day 8. The first contestant to officially be evicted was Joe Pucciarelli, a football coach from Boca Raton, Florida who got the boot on Day 16.
Taylor Hale was the winner on BB24, with Monte Taylor the runner-up. Taylor was also voted America’s Favorite Houseguest and ended up winning $800,000—$750,000 for winning and $50,000 for AFP—the largest haul of any Houseguest in the history of the American Big Brother franchise.
Big Brother 25
Big Brother 25 was the longest season ever of the show (100 days), and saw Jag Bains beat Matt Klotz in a relatively underwhelming 17-player season in Studio City in 2023.
The season saw another player expelled when 30-year-old Luke Valentine from Coral Springs, Florida was ushered out on Day 8, The first Houseguest to be evicted was Kirsten Elwin, a 25-year-old molecular biologist from Houston, Texas who left on Day 9 in a unanimous 13-0 vote over 63-year-old Felicia Cannon, the oldest player in the house.
Big Brother 26
On Big Brother 26, 16 players entered the house with Chelsie Baham, Makensy Manbeck, and Cam Sullivan-Brown making the Final 3 with the two women likely in the best position to win the $750,000 on finale night.
The first out? That would be Matt Hardeman, a 25-year-old tech sales representative from Roswell, Georgia who was evicted on Day 10 by an 8-3 vote over ally Kenney Kelley. Matt became a quick target from Angela Murray who was ultimately evicted on Day 73.
Overview
With nine men and just four women the first to leave the Big Brother house from Seasons 13-26, that now makes it 17 men and nine women (65.4%) to be the first to leave in whatever fashion.
So will a man again be the first out on Big Brother 27? We will all have to tune in next summer to find out, but history has taught us that the answer is probably yes with eight of the last 10 first-outs all being men.
