Big Brother not renewed for season 27 yet (but fans don't need to worry)

Big Brother 26 is coming to an end soon on CBS. After one of the best modern-day seasons of Big Brother in a while, fans are more than worried about the fact that the American reality TV series hasn't been renewed for a new season just yet.

New seasons of the CBS title are usually assumed to be on the way after each season. However, for the sake of not getting hopes up, fans love to get that renewal news and updates from longtime host Julie Chen-Moonves. But will fans receive fortunate renewal news? Or is this the last they'll see of Big Brother for a while?

Big Brother likely to be renewed for season 27

At the time of publishing, we do not have official news regarding whether Big Brother will return for a new season yet. Even so, we have faith that a new season is on the way in 2025. We just won't receive the news for a while.

Renewal updates shortly after a new season aren't the norm, as fans usually have to wait a few months after the conclusion of a season to know about renewals. For example, when season 25 swiftly ended in November 2023, fans didn't receive news of season 26 until Spring 2024, ac. The same time frame applied to prior seasons, leading us to believe that the same time frame should apply to later seasons, including season 27.

Having said this, we'll have to wait until season 27 is officially greenlit to know if Big Brother will return.

Yet, because season 26 was a well-received season with solid viewership consistently each week, our gut is leaning toward renewal news coming sometime in early to mid-2025.

We still don't know the official ratings numbers for Big Brother 26 yet. According to TV Series Finale, the ratings have been comparable to the last season. Big Brother season 25 averaged about 3 million weekly viewers. We're expecting Big Brother 26 to post a similar average rating. That's the good news!

In addition, casting for Big Brother 27 has already started, according to CBS. That's another great sign for the new season picking up a renewal. Again, it's still early, but the signs are there that should give fans hope that we'll see the new season of Big Brother sometime next year.
