Since the seventh episode of Hell’s Kitchen: Head Chefs Only was released on Thursday, why don’t we go into the top 3 moments of this episode? Again, there were some exciting and emotional moments this week, especially on the Red Team. So here are the best moments from episode 6 of Hell’s Kitchen Head Chefs Only: Harmony in Hell
1. Egypt’s Best Episode Yet
In the first few episodes of the season, including dinner services, Egypt seemed to rub his teammates the wrong way. They initially didn’t like him due to what appeared to be an ego issue and his team not trusting him, as he was put up for elimination in episodes 3 and 4. In episode 5, he asked to leave the competition, but thanks to Chef Ramsay’s confidence in him, he stayed in Hell’s Kitchen, and this episode was his best episode yet.
It started with the “foods coming together in harmony” challenge. Egypt produced a rib cap with a Cajun spice rub with a butter emulsion spinach sauce and a steakhouse macaroni and cheese with gruyere and blue cheeses. Not only was Egypt’s rib cap, which was mid-rare, cooked beautifully, but Ramsay also said he elevated that mac and cheese as well, earning the point for the Blue Team. However, it was notable for Egypt that his dish was the winning point in a timed challenge.
In that night’s dinner service, Egypt was vocal enough on the appetizers, giving a good time in three minutes on the risotto for the first appetizer, to which Brandon commented about how different Egypt has been from the beginning of the competition.
2. Amanda’s terrible service loses the service for the Red Team
This season’s steak night dinner service saw a ton of mistakes in the Red Team kitchen, especially from Amanda.
First, she sent up an undercooked lobster that was supposed to go with the risotto on the appetizers. However, her biggest mistake came later in the service when both teams faced off to see who could finish their tickets first. On the final ticket that could’ve won it for the Red Team, the veal Amanda had sent up was raw, allowing the Blue Team to come back and finish off their final ticket, winning them the challenge.
Surprisingly, she was not nominated for elimination despite those two mistakes. The two people nominated for elimination were Ann Marie, due to the lack of garnish for most of the night, and Meghan, due to one of her raw salmon on order, as she was trying to help everyone else. Ramsay decided to eliminate Meghan because she was not ready, as she was nominated on back-to-back nights, meaning her team didn’t believe in her.
3. Hannah’s and Chef Michelle’s Heart to Heart Conversation
After the challenge had finished and the Red Team was about to do their punishment, Hannah stepped away as she didn’t have a good night. She explains in her confessional that she can’t get out of her head over a traumatic experience; as of on the day the episode was being filmed, she explained that three years ago, her husband took her own life. Hannah also explains that because she is in Hell’s Kitchen, she doesn’t have the people around her who helped heal her through it.
While in the kitchen for prep, she asked Sous chef Michelle to talk with her in the storage room. Hannah explains her situation to Michelle, and she then says it’s healthier for her to remove herself from the competition. Michelle comforts and embraces her, stating she can’t give up. She states that while her food may be wacky sometimes, it’s creative, and she could do well in this competition.
Michelle then asks Hannah to believe in herself and tells her she will do well today. She promises that she will be there to support Hannah and regain her confidence. This moment between the two reminds me why I love the sous chefs on the show, as they are supporters of chefs and help Gordon Ramsay, especially those who have wanted to cook with him in past seasons.
