We've reached the point of Hell’s Kitchen in which the remaining six chefs fight to earn their black jackets, and five did end up achieving it, as we did repeat last year’s season surprise of six black jackets.
With this season's black jackets handed out, I decided to rank the chefs that I would like to see win the season of Hell's Kitchen: Head Chefs Only. These are the chefs who I feel can win this season of Hell’s Kitchen because these final six contestants are interesting, but they do end up having traits that might get in the way and ruin the competition for them.
5. Egypt
Egypt has had an auspicious season so far in Hell’s Kitchen. While Egypt has shown that he can cook and is passionate about the job, the main issue that Egypt has had is consistency. Throughout the season, we have seen him have his issues in service, whether it not cooking something the right way, like the gnocchi course in the charity dinner service, or at the beginning of the season when each person on the men’s team thought Egypt was out for himself.
Surprisingly, Egypt was nominated three times and hasn’t gone home yet. Egypt was also the last chef to earn a black jacket this season, which usually means the next person is eliminated heading into the next dinner service. While he has certainly changed, how long can Egypt remain inconsistent until he is eliminated? He can still win, but right now, Egypt is an underdog.
4. Whit
Whit has been a great chef throughout most of the season and has been phenomenal in both the challenges and the service. So why am I ranking her fourth here?
A few things can hold Whit back from winning, including her attitude and emotion. In a couple of services, she has had trouble communicating with teammates, and even in this recent episode, she felt angry and sad she didn’t get a black jacket in the first round. If she continues to let these emotions get to her, and her attitude gets worse, especially if she runs the pass, she can end up being eliminated despite her cooking being well.
3. Brandon
Like Whit, Brandon has also been a great chef throughout the season, as he has won challenges like getting a 5 in signature dishes and got the winning point in episode 10’s last to leave the challenge and has had quality services. However, the problem is that Brandon has had his fair problems through services like a raw lamb that wasn’t even finished in 10 minutes in episode 5 and an undercooked and watery pasta in episode 7. However, he has rebounded and got the second black jacket of the episode, and he can win if he plays his cards right.
2. Kyle
Kyle has impressed me throughout the season with his personality and cooking. Kyle has brought a fun vibe to Hell’s Kitchen by making all the competitors smile. He’s a very likable guy, and he can cook well. Kyle earned a 4 in his signature dish and was also the best in the Blue Team with his charity dinner night course with the red snapper, which has remained consistent throughout the season.
At the same time, he did have his drawbacks, like the burger challenge where he scored 0 points for two burgers and tried to beat Whit in two challenges and failing both times, as well as not bringing up the scallops for the carbonara in episode 9, which he got nominated for, he remained strong and cooked a great dish to earn himself a black jacket. I hope he does well with his personality to get to the finale.
1. Hannah
Perhaps the best chef of the season so far, Hannah has more than proved herself as a competitor. She began this competition by winning the signature dish with a maple leaf duck breast with a chocolate curry glaze, earning the winning 5 points to win the challenge for the women. She has also shown she can be a good threat in dinner services.
Like Kyle, Hannah led her filet mignon course for the charity night dinner service. She also earned the first black jacked with her balsamic and fig glazed veal chop, which Ramsay loved. Right now, she is a threat in the competition, and if she can keep this up, she might win the whole thing.
