Let's get this out of the way — yes, this list is mostly comprised of former Big Brother winners; with the show going on its 27th season without a single two-time winner, what did you expect? Whether it's a more recent winner looking to make the most of their second opportunity or an old-school winner attempting to take their second, third, or even fourth shot at a second Big Brother victory, it's what we all want to see!
Don't worry, though — there are a couple of non-winners who made the list as well and would be looking for their first Big Brother title.
This is all-stars, for crying out loud. We haven't had a true Big Brother: All-Stars season since 2006 in season seven. Yes, I know season 22 was technically the second iteration of all-stars, but let's be real, the cast was half comprised of former players who didn't deserve the moniker of all-star, unfortunately due to COVID-19 looming at the time and personal conflicts, we missed out on a true all-star season.
Before we get into it, I do want to preface this list by saying this is my personal dream casting for a future all-stars season, I know it may not be realistic whatsoever, as a few of these players likely have no intention of returning to Big Brother, but let's pretend none of that exists and have some fun with it!
With that being said, we are going to go with a cast of 20, like the original season of all-stars, 10 men and 10 women. In our pretend casting world, 16 of the 20 would be voted into the house. In the first part of this article series, we will take a look at the men who made the cut.
Dr. Will Kirby
An obvious choice here. Dr. Will Kirby may have won the second season of Big Brother, but he is truly the original, as season 2 is the first time Big Brother was played as it has become known to us today. Will also appeared on season 7 of Big Brother, the first all-stars season, finishing fourth, despite being immediately viewed as the season's biggest threat.
Will is still debatably considered to be the best Big Brother player of all time; he is the original puppeteer, creating and executing manipulative strategies that had not existed in the game beforehand. Will is also the co-creator of perhaps the most prolific alliance in Big Brother history "Chilltown" alongside season seven winner Mike "Boogie" Malin, dominating the first all-star season.
Most early viewers of Big Brother likely became fans because of Will and while he has nothing left to prove, the question remains, can Will really come back all of these years later and have the same success? Is he really THAT good or would he be sussed out immediately and not even have a fair shake at playing the game? There's only one way to find out.
Dan Gheesling
Dan is another player in the running for best Big Brother player of all time. Dan does have an advantage over Will when it comes to placement, winning his first appearance in season 10 and taking the runner-up spot in season 14. Dan was able to win season 10 by being loyal to his secret "Renegade" alliance member Memphis, riding out the alliance to the very end and becoming the first Big Brother winner to win by a unanimous vote.
In season 14, Dan originally entered as one of the four coaches, comprised of Big Brother legends who eventually entered the game themselves. Despite being seen as the biggest threat from the jump, Dan was able to out-maneuver everyone and figure his way out of every single game-ending situation he found himself in. No matter how bad it looked, Dan prevailed. Dan played the complete opposite game his second time around, being completely untrustworthy and lying to just about everyone.
Unfortunately for Dan, this left quite a bitter jury and was the one huge flaw in Dan's epic game, poor jury management. It would be very interesting to see how Dan would play a third time around, but one thing is certain, he would have a huge target on his back from day one.
Hayden Moss
Hayden is an interesting one that I believe is very underappreciated as a great Big Brother winner. The winner of Big Brother 12 didn't play the flashiest game ever, but he was a physical threat that was much smarter than he may have outwardly appeared. Hayden was at the inception of "The Brigade" alliance that was formed on day two and brought three of their four founding members to the final three. Hayden was also the first ever Big Brother player to appear on Survivor, making a splash there as well, finishing in sixth place out of 20 contestants.
Hayden nearly flipped the game on its head, attempting to knock off eventually winner Tyson Apostol, which could have put him in a very good position to win. Despite falling short, Hayden once again showed his gamesmanship against Survivor greats in his first outing. Hayden has yet to return to Big Brother and who knows if he ever will, but it definitely makes you wonder what the former winner could do over 10 years later.
Cody Califiore
Cody is a player we really saw mature over his two stints on Big Brother. In his first outing on season 16, Cody finished in second place and was seen as a loyal to a fault, slightly naive, athletic kid. As a player, Cody was looked at as being carried to the end by his "Hitmen" alliance-mate Derrick and made the game-winning mistake of taking Derrick to the finale after winning the final Head of Household, when he easily would have won the game otherwise.
However, Cody returned to Big Brother six years later for season 22, the second iteration of Big Brother: All-Stars, and controlled the game from day one until the very end. Cody was the master of his own fate this time out, winning when he had to and securing both the final Power of Veto and Head of Household, this time making the right decision and taking Enzo to the finale, where he won via a unanimous vote and finally getting to right what many see as one of the biggest mistakes in Big Brother history.
Cody's win definitely secured his spot as a top-tier player, he is one of two players to place first and second, the other being Dan Gheesling and at this point in the game, was the second player to ever win by unanimous vote, the other also being Dan.
Derrick Levasseur
Despite only playing Big Brother one time, Derrick is another player who falls into the conversation when it comes to all-time greats. The winner of Big Brother 16 used his background as an undercover police officer to his advantage throughout the game, being able to assess situations, read his housemates, and lie convincingly, all without giving away his real-life profession.
Derrick was able to convince other players to do his dirty work and keep his hands entirely clean, not touching the nomination block until the final three, which up until that point, had only ever been done by two other players. Derrick alongside fellow winner Cody Calafiore, formed the "Hitmen" alliance and was able to pick off targets on their hitlist, one by one, all the way until the very end of the game. Despite Cody beating Derrick at the final Head of Household competition, it was Derrick's ability to mastermind the entirety of the game that won him the season.
Seeing Derrick play again is something Big Brother fans have wanted for a very long time, there were even rumors that he would appear on season 22, which wound up not being true. The question becomes, now that everyone knows who Derrick is, can he still play the game to the level he did back in season 16, or would he become another early target?
"Evil" Dick Donato
If you have been watching Big Brother for a long time, you surely remember season eight winner, "Evil" Dick Donato, who was known for his brash attitude and at times, obnoxious behavior. Dick unknowingly entered the game with his daughter Daniele, whom he did not have a great relationship with prior to the show, as one of the season's twists. The pair were able to work side-by-side and get to the finale together, with Dick being seen as the superior player and being awarded the victory. Dick returned to Big Brother in season 13, again alongside Daniele, but unfortunately had to exit the game on day six due to personal health issues.
It would be interesting to see Dick return to the game, perhaps without Daniele, and really get a second opportunity to play Big Brother.
Xavier Prather
Xavier is the winner of Big Brother 23, the first African-American winner of Big Brother, and the third winner to be victorious by a unanimous vote. Xavier was a part of "The Cookout" alliance, which was formed by housemates of color in order to work together and guarantee that season 23 would be the first season that a person of color walked away as the winner. Not only did they succeed in their mission, but the six-person alliance would also be the final six of the season.
From there, Xavier was able to form alliances with the remaining men to safeguard himself and get rid of two of the stronger women and would eventually cut Kyland, his alliance mate, in order to secure a final three with two of the weaker "Cookout" members and virtually guarantee his victory. As a more recent winner, we haven't seen much else from Xavier on Big Brother outside of his stint on Big Brother: Reindeer Games, where he placed third, so it would be fun to see where Xavier would stack up in his second outing against other returning players, especially players with more Big Brother experience.
Jag Bains
Jag is another recent winner, taking home the season 25 title, being the first Sikh player and winner of Big Brother. Jag's run didn't come without some hurdles, as he was technically voted out on day 30, until being saved by "The Minutemen" alliance member Matt Klotz with the "Power of Invincibility." This seemed to be a big wake-up call for Jag, as he kicked things into gear, and alongside Matt, was able to dominate the game from there on out. "The Minutemen" controlled the game, winning a large sum of the remaining competitions and Jag being the brains of the operation, was able to dictate the moves they made and when they made them.
Jag would win the final Power of Veto competition, bringing his "Mafia" alliance to the final three, and would win the final Head of Household competition as well, bringing Matt and "The Minutemen" to the finale where Jag would win a 7-2 vote. As a recent winner, Jag has yet to make a second Big Brother appearance, what better time to do so than in an all-star season?
Frank Eudy
This one may seem out of the blue. Frank isn't a former winner and has only played the game one time, over 10 years ago. However, Frank was not only a dominant competitor, winning six competitions, he also was a very solid social player and was able to gain the trust of a large faction of the house. If not for "Dan's funeral," which very well may be the best move in Big Brother history, Frank had a decent shot at winning the game.
While there's no shame in getting bamboozled by Dan Gheesling, one of the greatest players ever, Frank has yet to have a second chance at Big Brother, which is surprising considering he was America's Favorite Player of season 14. Now we don't know the ins and outs, Frank could have been offered a shot at returning, who knows? But what we do know is that he has not played the game a second time and could be a great non-winner to add to the mix that people may not be expecting.
Paul Abrahamian
Paul is a very controversial non-winner. In fact, many feel like he should have won one if not both seasons he appeared on. Paul was the runner-up of back-to-back Big Brother seasons, falling just short on seasons 18 and 19. In season 18, Paul was seen as a threat from very early on but was able to make his way all the way to the finale, falling just a vote short of winner Nicole Franzel, who is considered to be one of the best female players of Big Brother.
Sadly for Paul, he would once again fall short by one vote to season 19 winner Josh Martinez. Despite winning the most competitions and being the mastermind behind the biggest evictions of the season, Paul's housemates felt betrayed by the way Paul played the game and even if he did play what most considered to be the "best" game in season 19, the jury felt otherwise. Paul is considered one of, if not the best player to never win Big Brother; as the only player to be a two-time runner-up, that makes sense.
It would definitely be intriguing to see if Paul has what it takes to play alongside some of the best players ever and change his game up enough to finally take home the win.
