Celebrity Big Brother has been a massive hit in the United States and will likely continue on as the sort of ‘off-season’ installment of the typical Big Brother US season. The American brand of Celebrity Big Brother has actually had some pretty excellent game play and some amazing drama along the way. Season 3 is currently on hiatus and may never come to fruition due to ratings during the second season.

In the first season of Celebrity Big Brother, Brandi Glanville of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills provided laughs and produced more drama than anyone else inside of the house. Ross Matthews of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and James Maslow of Big Time Rush arguably played the best despite Marissa Jaret Winkour of Broadway fame taking down the prize. Chuck Lidell would have been a terrific addition to the show, but he was shown the door as the first evicted celebrity houseguest. That first season also included NBA champion Metta World Peace, something we will allude to later.

In the second season, production put together a lot different of a cast. Ryan Lochte and Ricky Williams made appearances as male sports stars. Tamar Braxton, the eventual winner of the show, played the game admirably. Dina Lohan, the infamous mother of Lindsay Lohan, even played the game at a somewhat decent level for the 29 days of the show.

Both seasons produced great moments for the fans of Big Brother as they try to get their fix of the gameplay in during the off-season. Hopefully, we will get a Celebrity Big Brother season 3 soon.

As I mentioned, Metta World Peace made an appearance in the Big Brother house. It’s fair to wonder what other NBA players would be interested in taking a spot in the BB house in the near future. We decided to look at three NBA stars who need to find their way into the house.

3. JR Smith

If you are an NBA fan, you know how wild JR Smith is and you know how wild he could make the Big Brother house. Smith’s NBA career is not done…yet. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers were giving him a long look as recently as this season to play a role for them. However, his time in the NBA will be reaching its end in short order.

Smith is best known for his three-point shooting on the court, but he is perhaps best known to fans as being one of the craziest players American sports have ever seen. In his most recent escapade, Smith forgot about how much time was on the clock while playing alongside LeBron James for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They lost the game because of him.

This type of absentmindedness could work great in the BB house from an entertainment perspective.

2. Chris ‘Birdman’ Andersen

‘Birdman’ Andersen has had his fair share of controversies, but he is one of the most kind-hearted players to grace the court in the last decade. He was an NBA champion with the Miami Heat and was best known to NBA fans as ‘Birdman’ because of his eccentric hairstyle that featured a multi-colored mohawk.

Birdman recently took part in Ice Cube’s Big3 league last year.

His sense of humor, eccentric personality, and history could make him an excellent fit for the Celebrity Big Brother house. An opportunity like this could be an excellent one for Andersen as it would put him back on national television. He already certainly has the look.

1. Dennis Rodman

Is there really any other NBA star better suited to make a Big Brother season messy than five-time champion Dennis Rodman. The man stood up to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un — do we really think that he wouldn’t step up to other celebrities in the Big Brother house?

Obviously, getting someone as high-profile as Dennis Rodman would be a difficult task for production, but it is possible. Rodman has done crazier stuff before.

His NBA niche was his grit and hard work on defense which is a direct result of his personality.

Rodman was born to wreck the Big Brother game. Everyone would watch Celebrity Big Brother — Rodman would make it must-see TV for people who have never even seen Big Brother.
