Former Players React to Big Brother Canada 8 Suspending Production
By Tim Gross
Yesterday, production on Big Brother Canada 8 came to a halt thanks to a provincial shutdown in Ontario. Since then, the reactions have been coming in from numerous former players.
Global TV and Insight Productions announced yesterday that production on Big Brother Canada 8 was coming to an end. The move comes amidst the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic that has left numerous countries on lockdown.
The provincial government of Ontario (where the Big Brother Canada house is located) placed Ontario on lockdown yesterday. All non-essential businesses were forced to close their doors for at least 14 days. Big Brother Canada was included in the non-essential businesses. There are currently no plans to resume the show when the lockdown is lifted. The houseguests are now safely back home.
Since yesterday, reactions have come pouring in from former houseguests. All houseguests were naturally heartbroken that it was coming to an end and wanted everyone to be safe. However, some also had other thoughts.
Former Big Brother Canada houseguests react to the production being suspended
Naturally, everyone was disappointed the season came to a pre-mature end. Some former players, such as Season 4 & 5 star Cassandra Shahinfar and Season 7 star Adam Pike expressed disappointment that the show had to come to an end but the right call had been made. Cassandra posted on Instagram that it was a sad day for the show’s community whether it was the fans, producers, or houseguests. She also noted that health is number 1 and hoped everyone was safe with their family. Adam tweeted disappointment for the die hards on Season 8 that had the experience ripped away from them.
Others chose to make jokes about the season (which were pretty funny) after expressing their disappointment of the pre-mature end. Season 7 houseguest Eddie Lin joked on twitter that at least the supersized season outlasted the takeover twist from Big Brother 17. Season 1 houseguest Peter Brown joked about how we would never find out if Chris Wyllie could actually transform brains or not.
So, there were a variety of different reactions to a season of unprecedented events. It’ll be interesting to see what Big Brother Canada 9 has in store for us.
