25-year-old military infantry man Micheal Stubley from Prince George, British Columbia became the 1st person evicted from Big Brother Canada 8 last night in a 9-3 vote. Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with Micheal to gather his thoughts on his eviction.

In last night’s episode of Big Brother Canada 8, Micheal Stubley and Brooke Warnock were nominated for eviction. Most of The Evictors (Micheal, John Luke Kieper, Rianne Swanson, and Madeline Di Nunzio) lashed out at HOH Chris Wyllie for his perceived betrayal. Micheal scrambled for his safety. John Luke, Angie Tackie, Micheal, and Hira Deol won a barbecue feast courtesy of Summer Fresh that gave Micheal and John Luke an opportunity to campaign on Micheal’s behalf.

Minh-Ly Nguyen Cao was able to convince Micheal to call out Kyle Rozendal on his game on the premise it would get him more votes. In the end, it was not enough to save Micheal. The 25-year-old military infantry man from Prince George, British Columbia became the first person from the Big Brother Canada 8 house evicted in a 9-3 vote. Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with Micheal to get his thoughts on his time in the game and his eviction.

Interviewing Micheal Stubley (Big Brother Canada 8‘s First Person Evicted)

Inside the BB House: What made you decide to keep your military service secret from most of your housemates until your eviction speech?

Micheal Stubley: Yeah looking back on it, I think that would’ve been a tool I could’ve used but I had a little bit of a conversation before going into the house thinking that I was already going to be viewed as a threat and so people hearing that would think of me even more of a threat but I think that would’ve postponed me being a target for later on the game and not immediately.

When you say [you’re in the military], I hate to be the type of people to use the military to gain credit with people because there’s a lot of people that do that, but in the house, it’s a valuable thing when people are forming impressions of you. So, immediately they thought I was maybe arrogant or something like that and quick to judge me but if they had the military experience, they would have known I was coming from a place of loyalty and integrity and I was maybe someone they could confide in rely on to protect them in the game. Looking back on it, I definitely would’ve been more upfront and vocal about my background.

Inside the BB House: When Arisa [Cox] announced the first twist that Canada was voting, what was going through your mind when she announced that and then what was your reaction when they kept you safe?

Micheal Stubley: So, honestly. I was thankful and I was so happy that Canada didn’t put me in that group because that would’ve definitely been a huge blow. It would’ve been cool to compete in the competitions but I’m really happy I didn’t know that Canada disliked me. With the group, it almost seemed like that was a big tool… that was a big hint that Canada gave the rest of the house. So, I took it in the back of my mind, well okay Chris obviously did something because he was broadcasting to the house that he was working with autistic children. So, meritly, you would think that would be a very rewarding… a very deserving job and stuff like that but the fact that Canada put him up as least favorite said that maybe this guy’s lying, maybe he’s up to something else. Minh-Ly made sense and Sue it was kind of like I don’t know why… maybe if Canada thought she was irritating. Nico also kind of made sense just in how he acted and his aftermath after. Sadly, the house didn’t really use the material that Canada gave them into their opinions.

Inside the BB House: Following up on that with your comment about Nico, what was running through your mind when he decided to self-evict?

Micheal Stubley: So, with Nico I obviously can understand the mindset that he was in emotionally and stuff like that. It was obviously a huge blow to know that a large, significant group of people think you’re not as cool as you may think you are. The only thing I don’t respect about him is that, it’s the same thing I told Chris when he was on the block. It’s not that you failed or that you’re down but it’s how you move forward afterwards because that’s how you gain respect. For him, pulling the pin and leaving the game early and not suffering or honoring the eviction or the process, its something I can’t respect. That’s just because I’m not a quitter and I don’t believe in giving up in the fight.

Inside the BB House: Do you think there’s anything you could’ve done differently in your campaign that would’ve helped you to stay?

Micheal Stubley: Yeah, I think at the point, I did everything I possibly could, but people just felt safety and didn’t want to stand up to something that they knew was wrong. It just made more sense game wise to keep me because it would’ve kept the target on me going in the house, which would’ve then kept the target off the rest of the house. So, it just didn’t make sense to get rid of me in that sense as far as the game goes. So, I think looking back on it, I would’ve maybe tried to form somewhat of a relationship with Chris but nothing I can do now about it but yeah, I guess that’s the way the cards fell for me.

Inside the BB House: Had you stayed in the house and won HOH, who would you have nominated and targeted?

Micheal Stubley: Oh yeah, right away, so I left The Evictors a little piece of advice. They asked me for it before I left and I told them if you guys get HOH, you gotta make sure you find a way to get Kyle and Vanessa on the block with each other after the POV. My suggestion was Chris and Vanessa up on the block as nominees, they both compete for the POV and hopefully they don’t win it. If Kyle wins, he’ll take Vanessa off, and if Kyle doesn’t win it and Chris wins it, it is a potential backdoor for Kyle. So, either way, you’re taking one of the snakes down.

Inside the BB House: For my last question, I want to do a word association. I’m going to give you the name of one of the houseguests and I want you to say one word that comes to mind with them. Okay?

Micheal Stubley: Okay, cool let’s hear it.

Inside the BB House: Chris

Micheal Stubley: Coward.

Inside the BB House: John Luke

Micheal Stubley: Loyal.

Inside the BB House: Madeline

Micheal Stubley: Fighter.

Inside the BB House: Kyle

Micheal Stubley: Manipulator.
