With Big Brother Canada 8 on the horizon, we decided to look back at previous seasons. One of the first things typically on the forefront of fans’ minds is returning players. So, we decided to make a list of players we would like to see return for a future season of Big Brother Canada.

The criteria are simple: you can only have played once and not won the show. It could also just be someone the author liked, thought was a good player, could’ve gone down as a legend if not for a twist, or someone who simply needs a shot at redemption. This entry looks at why Erica Hill from Big Brother Canada 6 should return.

Why Erica Hill Should Return to Big Brother Canada

Erica Hill was one of the comp beasts of Big Brother Canada 6. Like a lot of potentially good Big Brother Canada players, Erica was done in by a twist.

In week 1, Erica was kept immune from eviction by a twist where Andrew Miller had to select half the house to live in hell for the week and half the house to live in heaven. During this time, she helped the house evict Rozina Yuqub.

During the first week, a twist was announced where Canada would have 4 possible candidates to choose from (2 representing heaven and 2 representing hell) to enter the Big Brother Canada 6 house as part of a twist called the Gate Crashers. In the end, Merron Haile and Veronica Dougherty (both representing heaven) were selected to enter the house. They entered after the first live eviction but before the 2nd HOH Competition.

In week 2, Ryan Ballantine won HOH and nominated Andrew alongside Hamza Hatoum for eviction. Erica won her first POV of the season and chose not to use it. At the live eviction, Andrew was evicted 11-0.

In week 3, Erica was largely out of the spotlight as Hamza controlled the whole week. This week, Erica helped Hamza evict Jesse Larson, putting a dent into the Real Deal alliance (Derek Kessler, Kaela Grant, Paras Atashnak, and Jesse).

Week 4 brought the first double eviction of the season. On the front end, Erica won her first HOH comp of the season and nominated Maddy Poplett and Merron for eviction, wanting to evict one of the two Gate Crashers. Erica also won the POV that week and used it to save Maddy. She named Veronica the replacement nominee. At the live eviction, Veronica was evicted 9-1.

On the back end of the double eviction, Erica was able to remain out of the spotlight. Olivia Riemer won HOH and nominated Merron and Ryan for eviction. Ryan won the POV that week to save himself that week and Hamza was named the replacement nominee. Hamza was evicted 9-1. The only vote to keep Hamza came from Erica.

In week 5, Erica won her 2nd HOH (and 4th competition overall). She nominated Merron and Ryan for eviction. Johnny Mulder won the POV that week and chose not to use it. Merron was evicted that week in a 5-3 vote.

In week 6, Kaela won HOH and nominated Ryan alongside Will Kenny for eviction that week. When Johnny won the POV and chose not to use it, it looked as if Erica would stay another week. However, Canada was also given a POV (through the Canada’s Save twist) that week and they chose to use it on Ryan. Erica was named the latest replacement nominee and evicted 5-2. The votes to keep Erica came from Johnny and Ryan.

Erica deserves a shot to return to Big Brother Canada because simply put, she had game. It is really unfortunate when twists result in good players leaving before they should and that’s what happened with Erica. With her ability to win comps, she was realistically one of they only people that could’ve stopped Daela (Derek and Kaela) and Paras from steam rolling like they did.

Overall though, there’s no telling how well she would’ve done or not, but that twist robbed her of at least a spot on the jury. I think if she does return, a second chances type season would be a better fit for her than all-stars. Either way, I would certainly like to see how she does if a twist doesn’t completely screw her over. My only real worry is that her reputation as a comp queen would do her in early.
