With 21 seasons and 3 spin off version of Big Brother in the books, we decided to take a look back at Big Brother history. Now, we’ve decided to take a look back at the 5 dumbest moves in the show’s history. This will include the Celebrity and Over the Top version of the show.

To qualify for this list, this has to be a moment that Big Brother fans would remember and talk about how stupid it was. This could come from any portion of the game whether it is nominations, volunteering to go on the block, using the POV on someone you shouldn’t have etc. You get the idea. Checking in at No. 2 is Marcellas Reynolds not using the POV to save himself, resulting in his eviction.

No. 2: Marcellas Reynolds doesn’t use the POV to save himself, resulting in his eviction

The biggest twist of Big Brother 3 was the introduction of the Power of Veto. For a majority of the game, the Power of Veto was only the Silver POV. The Silver POV had limited powers compared to the Golden POV. The Silver POV allowed its holder to remove one of the two nominees if they wished. However, if a nominee won the POV, they could not use it to save themselves.

The final POV competition was held at the final 5. For this competition, the Silver POV was upgraded to the Golden Power of Veto. Unlike the Silver POV, the Golden Power of Veto allowed a nominee to use it to remove themselves from the chopping block. In future seasons, the Golden POV was adopted as the main POV in use moving forward.

At the final 5, Marcellas was in an alliance with Jason Guy and Danielle Reyes. However, Danielle and Jason had gotten word about a talk Marcellas had previously had with Roddy Mancuso, causing Roddy to target Danielle. Unbeknownst to Marcellas, this talk put a target on his back with Danielle and Jason.

So, Jason nominated Marcellas alongside one of his best friends in the house, Amy O’Hara for eviction. Marcellas then won the Golden POV and had the opportunity to save himself from the chopping block. However, Danielle was able to get to Marcellas.

Danielle promised Marcellas it would be him and Danielle in the end but had no intention of keeping that promise. Danielle also did her best to assure him that Amy would be the one evicted no matter what. However, she wanted Marcellas evicted if he didn’t use the POV. Danielle’s deception worked and Marcellas turned heads when he didn’t use the POV to save himself at the live eviction show.

When the vote came back, Danielle had betrayed Marcellas and voted to evict him. Lisa Donahue had voted to evict Amy, making it a 1-1 vote. This left the tie-breaking vote to Jason, Danielle’s closest ally. Jason voted to evict Marcellas, securing his place in the Big Brother Hall of Shame with that move. When Marcellas walked out to his eviction interview with host Julie Chen-Moonves, the first thing Julie did was slap him upside the head for making such a boneheaded move.

This is the Big Brother equivalent to getting voted out of Survivor with a hidden immunity idol in your pocket. When you have a life raft, you grab onto it and pull yourself to safety. Marcellas didn’t and it cost him the game. You know its bad when the host slaps you upside the head for making such a boneheaded move. The only reason this isn’t number 1 is because of the masterful job of deception on Danielle’s part, leading to this dumb move.

What is the dumbest move ever? Stay tuned to find out!
