With 21 seasons and 3 spin off version of Big Brother in the books, we decided to take a look back at Big Brother history. Now, we’ve decided to take a look back at the 5 dumbest moves in the show’s history. This will include the Celebrity and Over the Top version of the show.

To qualify for this list, this has to be a moment that Big Brother fans would remember and talk about how stupid it was. This could come from any portion of the game whether it is nominations, volunteering to go on the block, using the POV on someone you shouldn’t have etc. You get the idea. Checking in at No. 1 is Lawon Exum volunteering to be evicted, thinking he would return with a superpower.

No. 1: Lawon Exum volunteers to be evicted thinking he would return with a superpower

At week 4’s live eviction on Big Brother 13, host Julie Chen-Moonves announced to the houseguests a twist that would send a player back into the house after week 5. Brendon Villegas was evicted at week 4’s live eviction in a 5-2 vote. This set the stage for arguably not just the dumbest move of the decade, but the dumbest move in Big Brother history.

Kalia Booker won HOH in week 5. She was aligned with Porsche Briggs, Daniele Donato, and Lawon. Their target that week was Jeff Schroeder with Rachel Reilly as the backup plan. So, Kalia nominates Jeff alongside Rachel for eviction. When Jeff won the POV that week to save himself, thus the target shifted to Rachel. Naturally, since Jeff was going to veto himself a replacement nominee was needed. Enter Lawon.

As Kalia’s alliance was debating the replacement nominee in the HOH room, Lawon not only volunteers to be the pawn, but he volunteers to be evicted. Lawon was under the very false assumption he would return with some sort of superpower. Lawon’s alliance was already laughing at this plan in the diary room, knowing full well how ridiculous it sounded. Nonetheless, Kalia granted his wish and named him the replacement nominee. Lawon was then evicted 6-0.

Lawon then had to face the person America voted for in a competition in order to return to the house. America voted for Brendon to get the shot to return over Dominic Briones. Lawon subsequently lost the competition and Brendon re-entered, cementing Lawon’s place in the Big Brother Hall of Shame. At his eviction interview, Julie informed Lawon there was no superpower.

I still can’t even begin to fathom why anyone who is playing Big Brother to win would voluntarily get themselves evicted.  There is never any superpower or safety for the person who returns for one thing. For another, if you have the chance to return, its usually through some competition or vote. Lawon wasn’t popular enough to win a return vote and he also wasn’t good at competitions. Despite these things, Lawon volunteered to be evicted without any influence from another player. For that, Lawon’s move checks in as the dumbest in Big Brother history.
