With 21 seasons and 3 spin off version of Big Brother in the books, we decided to take a look back at Big Brother history. Now, we’ve decided to take a look back at the 5 dumbest moves in the show’s history. This will include the Celebrity and Over the Top version of the show.

To qualify for this list, this has to be a moment that Big Brother fans would remember and talk about how stupid it was. This could come from any portion of the game whether it is nominations, volunteering to go on the block, using the POV on someone you shouldn’t have etc. You get the idea. Checking in at No. 5 is Joey Van Pelt telling the men about her plan for an all-women’s alliance.

No. 5: Joey Van Pelt tells the men about her plan for an all-women’s alliance

Where do we even begin with this one? It is week 1 of Big Brother 16. The main twist of the season was the Battle of the Block. With the Battle of the Block, 2 houseguests would win HOH and would name a set of 2 nominees. The 2 sets of nominees would then face each other in a competition. The nominees that won the competition would be safe for the week and dethrone the HOH that nominated them, leaving the dethroned HOH vulnerable.

Caleb and Frankie were the winners of the first HOH Competition. While they were HOHs, they formed an all-guy alliance known as “The Bomb Squad” with Cody Calafiore, Derrick Levasseur, Devin Shepherd, and Zach Rance. Devin then went rogue and added Christine Brecht and Amber Borzotra to the alliance, making the others skeptical of Devin.

Caleb nominated Donny Thompson and Paola Shea for eviction, while Frankie nominated Brittany Martinez and Victoria Rafaeli. Brittany and Victoria won the Battle of the Block Competition, keeping them safe and dethroning Frankie as HOH.

Fearing an all-guys alliance, Joey tried to form an all-women’s alliance with Amber, Paola, and Nicole Franzel. However, this failed miserably as Amber joined the Bomb Squad. Joey then inexplicably decided to tell Devin Shepherd, who was part of the Bomb Squad, about her all women’s alliance. Oy vey.

Donny Thompson then won the POV to save himself that week. Needing a replacement nominee, Joey stood out as the obvious choice and she was nominated for eviction.

Being target number 1, Joey would’ve needed a great campaign strategy to stay alive. Fortunately for the Bomb Squad, she didn’t have that either. In hopes of staying alive, Joey created a male alter ego named “Alex”, causing her fellow houseguests to think she just plain lost it. Subsequently, Joey was the first person evicted on Big Brother 16 13-0.

First of all, you should never spill the beans about your own alliance because it makes people feel like they are at the bottom and that’s when they turn against you. Second of all, you don’t tell it to the enemy (the guys in this case) of all people. Third, her campaign strategy was terrible. While it was certainly going to attract attention, it just wasn’t going to attract the kind of attention she wanted and was only going to cost her votes. For that, Joey’s move checks in at No. 5 on our list of the dumbest moves in Big Brother history.
