With 21 seasons and 3 spin off version of Big Brother in the books, we decided to take a look back at Big Brother history. Now, we’ve decided to take a look back at the 5 most memorable blindsides in the show’s history. This will include the Celebrity and Over the Top version of the show.

To qualify for this list, this has to be a blindside that Big Brother fans would remember. It could also be a blindside that is constantly talked about in some way, good or bad. It could also be that this moment made history in some fashion. Checking in at No. 1 is Dustin Erikstrup’s blindside from Big Brother 8.

No. 1: Dustin Erikstrup gets blindsided by America

In Big Brother 8, there were two big twists. The first was that some houseguests would be playing with their nemesis. The nemesis were “Evel” Dick Donato and Daniele Donato (estranged father and daughter), Carol Journey and Jessica Hughbanks (former best friends), and Dustin Erikstrup and Joe Barber (ex boyfriends).

The other was that Eric Stein was playing as America’s Player. America gave him 3 tasks each week ranging from who to get nominated to who to vote to evict, and whose pillow to pour mustard on among other things.

In week 5, Daniele won HOH. Her and Evel Dick unsuccessfully tried to backdoor Eric, leaving them all alone against an alliance of 4. The alliance of 4 was Eric, Dustin, Amber Siyavus, and Jameka Cameron. Jen Johnson and Zach Swerdzewski were floating in the middle.

To make matters worse for Evel Dick and Daniele, Eric’s showmance Jessica won HOH in week 6. She nominated the Donatos for eviction. Evel Dick won the POV that week and in a surprising move, chose to use the POV that week on Daniele intending to sacrifice himself for his daughter.

This meant Jessica needed a replacement nominee. Earlier in the week, an overconfident Dustin volunteered to be the replacement nominee, having complete trust in his alliance. He also badly wanted the satisfaction of seeing Evel Dick leave over him. So, Jessica gave him his wish and named Dustin the replacement nominee.

Facing long odds, Evel Dick went to work to rally numbers to save himself. He was able to convince Jen, his in-house nemesis, to vote with him as well as Zach. This made it a 3-3 tie, which still wouldn’t be enough with Jessica as HOH. Knowing this, Evel Dick turned to an unlikely ally: Eric, who he had tried to backdoor the previous week. Unbeknownst to both Dustin and Evel Dick, Eric was America’s player and had no real power that week.

At the live eviction, America told Eric to evict Dustin. As a result, Dustin was evicted in a 4-2 vote, stunning him and his alliance.

As big as Shane Meaney’s blindside was, this blindside was 10 times bigger. Thus, it takes the No. 1 spot in our countdown of the biggest blindsides in Big Brother history. All you need to do to see this is compare how confident Dustin was to how confident Shane was. If that doesn’t do it for you, then just look at the crew Evel Dick assembled to oust Dustin. He got his enemy in the house in Jen and the audience (on behalf of the guy he tried to back door the previous week) to vote with him in this blindside. That is very impressive on Evel Dick’s part.
