By Tim Gross
With the 2010’s in the rear-view mirror, we decided to take a look back at every season of Big Brother from the previous decade. In our look back, we decided to rank the 5 most memorable moments of the decade.
With the 2010’s now over, we decided to reflect on every season of Big Brother that took place last decade. There have been many twists over the course of the decade. So, we decided to rank the 5 most memorable moments of the 2010’s. This will include both the Celebrity and Over the Top versions of Big Brother.
To qualify for this list, this moment had to have happened between 2010 and 2019. It also has to be a moment that if you asked a Big Brother fan about it, they would know exactly what it is. It does not remember if they remember that moment fondly or not. No. 4 on the list is Kaitlyn Herman’s puzzle fail.
No. 4: Kaitlyn Herman’s puzzle fail
The biggest twist of Big Brother 20 was the BB App Store. The most trending houseguest would be awarded a power app, giving them an advantage in the game. The least trending houseguest would receive a crap app, giving them a punishment.
In week 1, Samantha “Sam” Bledsoe was voted the most trending houseguest and received a power app. For her power app, she chose the bonus life. The bonus life power app gave her a shot to return to the game if she was evicted in the first 3 weeks. If she wasn’t evicted in the first 3 weeks, the chance to return would automatically be given to the 4th person evicted.
Sam was not evicted in the first 3 weeks, so the opportunity to return fell to the 4th evicted houseguest. In week 4, Sam won HOH and nominated Haleigh Broucher and Kaitlyn Herman for eviction. Faysal “Fessy” Shafaat won the POV that week and used it to save Haleigh. As a result, Sam nominated Angela “Rockstar” Lantry for eviction. Kaitlyn was ultimately evicted in a 9-1 vote.
For her challenge, Kaitlyn was on the outside of a house structure and had to knock down a 6-piece puzzle, push the pieces through the door, and reassemble the puzzle on the inside of the house. Kaitlyn was given 2 minutes and 30 seconds to complete the task. If she completed it, she would return to the game with immunity for the week. However, she failed miserably at the puzzle and was unable to complete it.
This makes the list because of how mind blowing it was that she could not solve a 6-piece puzzle. Not only that, in theory, she should’ve had time to study it before knocking it down and reassembling it. Additionally, this challenge was re-visited during Big Brother 21 with Kaitlyn returning to host a POV competition.
What moment checks in at No. 3 on our list? Stay tuned to find out!
