Last week, casting director Robyn Kass announced the former houseguests would be giving casting advice to fans. These pieces of advice would become available starting yesterday. Today’s piece of advice came from Big Brother 21 star Cliff Hogg III.

Cliff’s advice was not to create a character that wasn’t you but instead to focus on that characteristic or trait that makes you stand out from your friends. If you try to create a character that isn’t you, it won’t work. He also says not only to talk about that characteristic/trait but to show it also. Cliff also said to have fun with it and not to treat it as a job. If you’re having fun with it, the passion will show itself.

Here again we see another piece of advice telling you to be yourself. Coming from two people who have been on Big Brother, that is sound advice. Also, if you are having fun with the project, casting directors will notice it.

Cliff’s time on Big Brother 21

Cliff was the 8th member of the jury on Big Brother 21. He was known for his positive attitude, strategic deal making, and his social prowess.

Cliff started off Big Brother 21 in a weak position. On Day 1, he ran for Camp Director and didn’t receive a single vote. He was on the outside of the Gr8ful alliance, looking in. Camp Director Jackson Michie banished him on Day 1, but he returned to the house.

Cliff was then nominated for eviction on week 1 alongside Kathryn “Kat” Dunn. When Sam Smith won the Power of Veto that week, he used it to save Cliff. Ovi Kabir was nominated in Cliff’s place and Ovi was evicted 12-0.

In week 3, it looked like Cliff had integrated himself somewhat with the majority alliance. He’d even formed a side alliance with Nicole Anthony and Ovi (who was in Camp Comeback) called “Fellowship of the Zing” with the intention of undermining Gr8ful.

However, Christie Murphy overheard Cliff’s strategy talk with the cameras and this made him a big target. He was nominated in week 3 alongside Jessica Milagros. When Kathryn “Kat” Dunn won the Power of Veto, she used it to save Jessica. Nicole Anthony was nominated in her place. Nicole was HOH Nick Maccarone’s target that week. On eviction night, Cliff was blindsided in a 6-4 vote. However, he returned to the Big Brother house after winning the Camp Comeback Competition.

Shortly after returning, Cliff won HOH and the tides started to turn. Cliff nominated Jack Matthews and Michie for eviction, with the intention of evicting Jack. However, Michie won the Power of Veto and Christie had the Panic Power in her back pocket. The Panic Power would allow Christie to turn to the Golden Power of Veto into the Diamond Power of Veto. Knowing this, Cliff made a deal with Christie to keep Christie from using the Panic Power. Isabella “Bella” Wang was the replacement nominee as a result and evicted in an 8-2 vote.

Cliff was able to stay safe for 2 weeks after his HOH reign. During week 6, Cliff formed the Cliff’s Angels with Kat, Nicole, and Jessica. The four targeted Jack Matthews and were able to get him evicted after Jessica won HOH and POV that week.

In week 7, Cliff was nominated for eviction by HOH Tommy Bracco. This time, he was nominated alongside Kat and Christie (who was nominated through losing America’s Field Trip). However, Tommy’s target was Kat. Just before the eviction, Nick made a deal with Cliff to keep him safe and target Michie later. Cliff took the deal, upsetting Kat. However, Kat was evicted in a 6-1 vote.

Michie ended up finding out about the deal Cliff made with Nick but Cliff didn’t become a target as a result. Instead, Michie and Holly Allen made a final 4 deal with Cliff and Nicole. This kept Cliff and Nicole safe all the way until the final 4.

Along the way, Cliff volunteered to be nominated in week 10 as the replacement nominee to throw the scent off of his alliance. He stayed in a 4-0 vote. On the back end of week 10’s Power of Veto Competition, Cliff won the Power of Veto and kept nominations the same.

The turning point in Cliff’s game came at the final 5. He had been nominated for eviction alongside Tommy. When Nicole won the Power of Veto, she used it to save Cliff. This meant Michie’s showmance Holly had to be nominated in Cliff’s place. Nicole and Cliff made a deal with Tommy that Tommy would throw final 4 HOH and go after Michie.

However, Michie overheard this and used the information to lie about Tommy. Cliff and Nicole didn’t believe this. However, Cliff still wanted no part of keeping Tommy as he felt he had a better chance if Holly stayed. Holly made a deal with Cliff and Nicole to keep her in the game by offering to throw HOH and POV. Cliff and Nicole took this deal and Tommy was evicted 2-0.

After Tommy’s eviction, Cliff cemented what he thought was a final 2 with Michie. However, Michie wanted no part of it. Michie felt burned by Cliff and Nicole after they even thought about betraying Holly.

At the final 4, both Cliff and Holly threw the HOH Competition to Nicole. Nicole nominated Michie and Holly for eviction. However, Michie won the Power of Veto that week and had the sole vote to evict as a result. Michie chose to evict Cliff. Cliff became one of only two players to be evicted from the Big Brother house 3 times in a season. The other was Big Brother 18 fan favorite Victor Arroyo III.

On finale night, Cliff gave his jury vote to Michie. He was also one of three finalists for America’s Favorite Player. However, he lost to Nicole.
