The Amazing Race 31 Episode 9 Preview

A new episode of The Amazing Race 31 airs tonight at 8 pm eastern. The season pits teams of former Big Brother players against teams of former Survivor players against former Amazing Race teams.

In last week’s episode of The Amazing Race 31, Nicole Franzel & Victor Arroyo started the leg in last place. Victor’s sharpshooting at the Roadblock allowed the couple to finish fifth and stay in the race. Survivor team Chris Hammons & Bret LaBelle struggled to pronounce Rachel Reilly & Elissa Reilly Slater’s last name, calling them the O’Reilly sisters. Meanwhile, Rachel & Elissa just plain struggled.

Things got off to a bad start for the sisters when they tried to reconcile with Leo Temory & Jamal Zadran (the Afghanimals) after some Big Brother style U-Turn drama in the previous leg.  Teams faced a Must Vote Double U-Turn. Amazing Race team Colin Guinn & Christie Woods were the first team U-Turned. Rachel & Elissa became the second team U-Turned after Chris & Bret cast the deciding vote against them.

At the detour, Rachel & Elissa lost their clue. However, the more physically demanding side of the detour proved to be the bigger setback. Colin & Christie passed the sisters on the second side of the detour, dropping Rachel & Elissa to last place. However, the Afghanimals got lost on the way to the roadblock.

For the roadblock, one team member had to shoot an apple off of a scarecrow’s head like Swiss folk hero William Tell. Rachel & Elissa arrived to the task in sixth place thanks to the Afghanimals navigational error.

Rachel did the roadblock for her team, but struggled to complete the challenge. This gave Jamal enough time to get the roadblock done first and give the Afghanimals a 6th place finish. Rachel & Elissa arrived last to the pitstop, resulting in their elimination.

Episode 9 Preview

With Rachel & Elissa eliminated, Nicole & Victor are Big Brother‘s last hope of winning The Amazing Race 31. Janelle Pierzina & Britney Haynes were eliminated in leg 6, which took place in Uganda.

This week, the teams head to Split, Croatia. In Croatia, teams will add the Travelocity Roaming Gnome as a traveling companion for the leg.

Previews showed more Big Brother style drama ahead. This time, the drama was at the airport between Becca & Floyd (Team Fun) and Nicole & Victor as teams were getting flights to Croatia. Nicole & Victor were seen struggling to get a flight. Meanwhile, Colin & Christie were seen forgetting their Gnome.
