Big Brother host Julie Chen will be replaced by Carrie Ann Inaba on The Talk

Big Brother host Julie Chen had also been hosting The Talk for a number of years. Now that Chen has stepped down from her talk show, Carrie Ann Inaba will replace her as one of the co-hosts.

Julie Chen has been the U.S. Big Brother host for nearly 20 years. Over the past eight years, she was also pulling double-duty, as she was co-hosting The Talk. The CBS talk show also features Sara Gilbert and Sharon Osbourne, but a new name will be joining the group very soon. Chen stepped down as a co-host in September, leading to an opening at the table. Beginning in January, Carrie Ann Inaba will become a new co-host.

Carrie Ann Inaba has been one of the judges on Dancing With the Stars for years. She has become a staple of the ABC reality competition show, sharing her dancing expertise with the celebrity contestants each season. Originally a summer show for ABC, Dancing With the Stars turned into one of the most successful shows for the network.

Viewers of The Talk have already seen Inaba stop by to be a guest co-host on the show. Before that, she spent some time guesting on The View and Live with Kelly. She certainly has some experience with this format of a talk show, and she was even mentioned in the goodbye message that Julie Chen made when she stepped down from the show. Chen certainly helped to get Inaba’s name out there, which couldn’t have hurt the process.

Toward the end of the Big Brother 20 season, a lot of controversies were surrounding her husband, Les Moonves. Following an episode of the show, she signed off by calling herself, Julie Chen Moonves. It was the first time she had used that full name during her time with the show and it generated a lot of attention. It showed people that she was standing beside her husband, as he dealt with sexual assault and harassment accusations.

As it stands, Julie Chen is still the Big Brother host. CBS announced that she would be back for Celebrity Big Brother Season 2, which begins in January. It is also assumed that she will return for Big Brother 21 in summer 2019, but no official statement has been made. It’s possible that the controversy her husband has created could lead the network to make a change in the hosting job, but it hasn’t happened so far.
