Big Brother one of the most tweeted television shows in 2018

Big Brother ranked right near the top of the most active television shows on Twitter this past year. It shows how dedicated that fans of the reality competition show have been through the years.

Twitter officially revealed that Big Brother was the No. 5 most-tweeted television show of 2018. It’s a pretty remarkable accomplishment for the show, continuing the support that fans have given the CBS program. It’s easy to see why producers and CBS have been so eager to get the next season off the ground. Can Big Brother continue that trend through the 2019 calendar year as well? The odds are pretty good.

Shows ahead of Big Brother on Twitter

According to Twitter, the top four most-tweeted about shows in 2018 were Saturday Night Live, Roseanne, Grey’s Anatomy, and The Walking Dead. It’s an eclectic group of shows, each having a very defined reason why it is ranked among the most talked about shows of the past year.

Why are these shows so popular?

SNL was constantly tweeted about by President Donald Trump, a Roseanne reboot started and was quickly canceled by ABC, Grey’s Anatomy fired two long-time actresses, and two of the main characters on The Walking Dead left the show. All of the shows had a lot of chatter on social media.

As for the rest of the top 10 most-tweeted shows, they were The Voice, Live PD, Supernatural, Game of Thrones, and Riverdale. The video below, released by Twitter on its own Twitter account, shows some more interesting tidbits from the past year. That includes the most retweeted post and a few other intriguing stats.

Twitter has become a great way for people to keep in touch with their favorite shows, as most networks have taken full advantage of advertising on that platform. Big Brother and Celebrity BB have done the same, with host Julie Chen also posting a lot about the shows she hosts.

Fans don’t have to wait much longer for the next group of houseguests to live inside the BB house. CBS has released the full Celebrity Big Brother 2 schedule for winter 2019. It will get the buzz going again and start to spur interest for the  BB21 cast or All-Stars 2 in summer 2019.
