Former narcotics detective Steve Arienta will once again be going undercover, with his strategy to win the $500,000 prize in Season 20 of Big Brother.

The full cast has been revealed for Big Brother Season 20, with CBS giving fans a good look at each of the new houseguests. New Jersey native Steve Arienta is among the newcomers, hoping to make his way to the end of the game. A devoted family man, Arienta wants to win to provide a better life for his wife and children.

Arienta may not be the first undercover cop to come onto Big Brother, but he’s hoping to learn from the mistakes of those before him. Now retired, Arienta had worked as a narcotics detective, a job which required him to go undercover. Now, he’ll be essentially stepping out of retirement, as he plans to use his job expertise to maneuver his way to that half-million dollar payout.

Steve will be a “mechanic”

In an interview with CBS, Arienta makes it clear he’s keeping his work background hidden from his fellow housemates. If everyone knows he’s worked undercover, nobody will trust him, and it may end up placing a target on his back. For that reason, Arienta is going to tell the others he’s actually a mechanic. Can he make it through to the end unexposed?

Certainly, one can’t argue with Arienta’s logic. Keeping his background private is even more necessary when you consider undercover cop Derrick Levasseur won BB16 back in 2014. If people know Arienta worked undercover as well, they’d presumably quickly band to get rid of him. Of course, it’s going to be bad news for Arienta if his background does happen to get out!

He’s there for his family

In his questionnaire for the show with CBS, Arienta makes it clear his family is most important to him. The only three items he’d want to bring with him are his wedding ring, a photo of his family, and a cell phone to call them with. Hopefully, for him, he will be able to secure the win with their moral support.

What’s your first impression of Steve Arienta? Could this be a repeat of Derrick Levasseur’s win from 2014, as long as Arienta keeps his background a secret? Do you think his chances are looking good? Tell us how you feel in the comments below!

Big Brother 20 will premiere on Wednesday, June 27 at 8/7c on CBS.
