Get ready for some blasts from the past Big Brother fans, because some familiar competitions will be returning this summer to test the Houseguests skills!

This season, a new crop of fresh-faced houseguests will be moving into the Big Brother house to partake in what will be the show’s landmark 20th season, which is sure to unleash a wave of new twists and competitions. However, fans hoping for some nods to the past won’t be disappointed!

As it turns out, the creative team behind CBS’ long-running summer staple have some major plans in place to honor the show’s past. This historic 20th season will be presented in a way fans are sure to enjoy.

Allison Grodner interview

In speaking with Global TV about her excitement for the new season, long-time executive producer Allison Grodner revealed plans to celebrate the show’s 20th season by dusting off some of the series’ classic competitions as a means to honor the show’s past.

"“We are looking at acknowledging our 20th season with moments throughout the season such as reviving some classic competitions, legends of the game,” Grodner revealed. “So there will be, especially on premiere night, some surprise nods to our 20th season.”"

Grodner did not give any details about which competitions might be returning to challenge the season’s new houseguests. That should give fans a bit of excitement to look forward too, though.

It seems likely we’ll, yet again, see the new spins on classics. That could include the Big Brother Tea Party, Hide and Seek Veto, Clowning Around, BB Comics, and the infamous OTEV comps. But, might we also see the return of favorites such as Have and Have Not competitions. Those have been MIA in recent seasons. Maybe a return of Season 16 and 17’s Battle of the Block competitions is in store?

Big Brother has a rich history of competitions

With 20 seasons worth of history to choose from, it’s going to be interesting to see which competitions make an encore appearance this summer. It may be even more interesting to see how the houseguests react to their returns! Could former houseguests also enter the picture? While production said it would be all new faces, things could always change. Maybe they could return just to host competitions? Could that be why there is an information void?
