Will BB19 winner, BB Celeb winner change how people play the game?

Big Brother 20 might just usher in a new way for the houseguests to play the game. The BB19 winner and the first BB Celeb winner showed you don’t have to win competitions to win the cash prize.

Josh Martinez won Big Brother 19. That’s information that some fans already forget. Despite Paul Abrahamian controlling the house, the game, and most competition results, Josh was the BB19 winner. Bitterness in the jury had people voting for Josh, simply because they disliked him less than Paul.

Then, during Celebrity Big Brother, somehow Marissa Jaret Winokur won. This was despite Ross Mathews controlling almost every decision that took place in the house. Ross won competitions when he needed to, steered voting how he wanted it to go, and Marissa just tagged along. While Marissa did win the final Head of Household Competition, viewers did not expect her to become the BB Celeb winner.

Will BB19 winner shift strategy for the BB20 cast?

The downside to Josh Martinez and Marissa Jaret Winokur winning is that it will affect how Big Brother 20 gets played. Gone are the days of simply trying to win every competition, and in its place is finding the right person to follow to the end. Josh and Marissa picked the right allies. They can’t be blamed for winning the grand prize, but they have changed how the game will be played.

Now, floaters are grabbing more than their lifevests. Hiding behind a bigger target has become the way to survive and make it to the final two. Potential BB20 cast members need to be paying close attention. The strategy of getting close to the main target, but not too close, is a lucrative strategy.

Big Brother 20 is on the horizon

CBS is already hard at work collecting applications and interviewing potential houseguests for summer 2018. It’s going to be the 20th summer season for the hit reality competition, not counting Celebrity Big Brother and Big Brother: Over The Top. While CBB and BBOTT could return at some point, production is focusing on the summer version right now.
